Help make a real difference in the lives of thousands of kids

We’re always looking for volunteers to help at the beach event — from registration, setting up aerial art, to all the way through break-down. If you’re more of a behind-the-scenes kind of helper and have a special talent you want to bring to our group, we welcome you in with open arms. No matter how you want to help with our mission of empowering 1,000,000 kids to save the Earth, we’d love to hear from you.

When is the next event?

The Coast is clear for our annual Kids Ocean Day live beach event on Thursday May 23, 2024 @ Dockweiler State Beach. We’re resuming this annual tradition that brings so much JOY to so many kids. Click here for the latest COVID updates.

How will I know what to do on the day of the event?

A training session will be held on the day of the event to familiarize volunteers with the location and activities for Kids Ocean Day. Volunteer Captains, coffee and donuts arrive @ 6:00 am. Volunteer Teams sign-in @ 7:00 am. Training session begins at 8:00 am sharp.

What should I bring on the day of the event?

Bring a water bottle, sunscreen and layered clothing. Lunch will be provided at the end of the event.

What will volunteers be expected to do on the day of the event?

Volunteers will have different jobs including:

  • Aerial Art set up on the beach

  • Registration – Greet and register volunteers, media, VIP contacts and others as they arrive

  • Traffic Control & Parking – Greet and direct the many buses to the correct parking lot

  • Greet the children, teachers and chaperones as they get off their buses. Make sure their bus is well marked and the bus driver is clear on their instructions

  • Partner up with a bus of children and their teachers

  • Stay with the kids from the bus, to the beach clean-up, to the aerial art and back to the bus

  • Direct kids to restrooms, trash & recycling areas and water stations

  • Manage trash and recycling stations

  • Keep the kids on schedule and in their assigned aerial art positions

  • Engage with the kids on their reaction to the trash on the beach, what they’ve learned in their classrooms and how they will continue to make a difference

  • Lead kids to the traffic cones on the beach to have lunch

  • Assist the kids with forming their aerial art

  • Break down the event

As the day goes on, there will be other needs that arise. A team effort and a willingness to help out in any way will be necessary.
